We will begin with hands-on practice of translating a short set of instructions. Then, the lecture discusses the nature of technical communication and its connections to translation. After that, it introduces technical translation. Finally, it concludes by drawing your attention to some important issues in technical translation.
Daniel Ding, PhD, is professor of English at Ferris State University, Michigan. He is teaching all sorts of writing (advanced technical writing, advanced composition, advanced business writing, research paper, advanced scientific writing, etc.) and publishes in these areas regularly, on the topics of rhetoric and history of technical communication, cultural issues in composition, multiculturalism, rhetoric and history of scientific writing. He has been invited to give lectures at universities and academic institutions in the following countries since 2000: China, Australia, Hungary, Austria, and Romania. In 2013-14, he was a senior Fulbright professor in Hungary.
